Thank you for choosing to support United Way of the Bay Area's Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund!
Hurricane Katrina has been one of the most destructive storms ever to hit the United States . Many
thousands of people in the affected areas of Louisiana , Mississippi
and Alabama found their lives devastated as Katrina came onshore
on Sunday, August 28, 2005. As of August 30, an estimated
80 percent of the below-sea-level city of New Orleans was
underwater, up to 20 feet deep in places, and countless homes
were flooded out or raised entirely. In addition, more than
100 people have lost their lives in Mississippi . As the number
of reported dead continues to rise, federal and state officials
say Hurricane Katrina may have been the nation's worst natural
disaster.
You can help the victims of this disaster by making a donation to the United Way of the Bay Area Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. All funds donated will be allocated to the local American Red Cross and/or the Salvation Army to assist frontline and ongoing disaster relief and recovery needs.
